What teachers are saying about the books

“Makes planning much easier.”

I especially love how Read and Write every day combines and contextualises language and phonics into contexts that are relevant to the lives of our ESOL learners whilst also addressing their literacy needs. Several of our volunteer tutors have been using it frequently and have said how much easier it makes planning for them.

"Books that reflect students’ real-life experience."

I was so pleased to find a coursebook that was written for ESOL students and reflects their real-life experience. At this level you can’t really do too much repetition and reinforcement and that’s one of the things I really like about your books – they provide really good practice and consolidation. The content is also really relevant and engaging and caters well for the diverse needs of my learners.

"It’s a great tool for providing students with the skills they need to master exam tasks."

Writing for SQA ESOL National 5 is my go-to resource for teaching writing skills at this level and has helped my students successfully prepare for the ESOL National 5 exam. It’s a great tool for providing students with the skills they need to master exam tasks such as formal and informal emails, reports, and essays. I particularly appreciate how the different chapters are tailored to develop key language and structure without overwhelming students with unnecessary details – simple but very effective!

"Especially useful for beginner teachers."

I found the combination of the student and teacher books especially useful for beginner teachers like me, when working with beginner learners. The books offer clear, coherent and adaptable lesson plans with detailed and helpful notes for the teacher to help them enrich the learners’ experiences. I found it particularly useful to use a lesson plan as a basis and incorporate my own additional ideas.  This worked well as it allowed me to tailor what I was doing to fit the usually spiky profile of the learners in the group. Patterns of learning can become established and learners become familiar with the structure of the topics which makes it easier for them to learn new vocabulary.
